How we organise our work and communicate with you

How we aim to work with you

When we first start working with you, we will ask you to complete a short registration form. This is to ensure we comply with all GPDR and good practice standards for psychotherapy and counselling.

Our goal is to make your experience as useful and flexible as possible so that it meets your needs and supports you to achieve the outcomes you are looking for.

You can choose to have sessions in-person or online, or a mix of the both to fit with your other commitments and preferences. We have different online platforms that we use, including MS Teams, Zoom and our bespoke video software.

Sessions tend to be either 1 or 1.5 hours long at first, and sometimes it can be helpful for the first session to be 1.5 hours long. At the same time, it’s not unusual for some people to opt for a 30 minute session when they are a certain way through the work, where the purpose of sessions are to help embed the progress and keep on track.

In terms of frequency of sessions, this is very much up to you. Many people decide to have weekly sessions to start with, and others fortnightly. It is normal for the frequency to change as you make progress. Some people may need a few sessions in total, and others may choose to work with us for longer. There is no right or wrong, just what works for you. And we don’t force you to pre-commit to a number of sessions in advance and we aim to help you in as few sessions as possible.
